A full-service translation and localization boutique
At DDi, we consider ourselves more than vendors– we are team members. We also collaborate with professionals who embrace this philosophy.
DDi provides design and desktop publishing services using state-of-the-art programs. We prefer to work directly with the client’s source files to maintain quality assurance throughout the project.
Our design team works closely with our language specialists to solve the problems that may arise during the layout process.
We also offer guidelines to help our clients create designs that can easily accommodate the conversion of their source files into other languages.
Translation vs. localization
Translation is the process of converting written text or spoken words into another language. It requires that the full meaning of the source material be accurately rendered into the target language, with special attention paid to cultural nuance and style.
The difference between translation and localization can be defined as follows:
“Translation is only one of the activities in localization; in addition to translation, a localization project includes many other tasks such as project management, software engineering, testing, and desktop publishing.” –A Practical Guide to Localization, by Bert Esselink.
